This is a neat standing desk solution, I like the built in filing underneath too.

I've read enough about child themes to know it's definitely the way to go, but I guess I'm worried about overhead. Still, what has to be done, has to be done.

http://codex.wordpress.org/Child_Themes

As fast as or faster than the infamous "5 minute Wordpress Install". Especially if it's just CSS you're doing. But when you get around to swapping out graphics and junk:
A) You won't lose your modifications when the theme updates down the road.
B) If you mess something up, it's easy to wipe the slate clean and start over.

I've lost entire swaths of hacks I've implemented to make a theme perfect when the theme updated. And it was always a theme I liked very much up until then.

Your call on Graphene was amazingly good -- it was perfect. I'm not cross-posting yet until I finish things like a better header image and such. I'm populating content here for people who happen to come across it, but won't promo until I'm a little further along.

I thought about the header image thing. I don't know -- I keep going back and forth on it. The widget's going to be a must-do but probably eat up some time. How tough is the child theme issue?

Link to FPFW coming ASAP!

Hey there, glad I helped get the fire lit under your butt! Are you also cross-posting updates to Twitter and FB? Goodreads?

You've done a decent job with modding up the site using the default options. I turned off the "replace header image with featured post image", myself. And changing buttons and widget headers is easy enough with some CSS and Photoshop. Word of caution, when you start doing that, make a child theme.

Finally, Fenceposts and Faerie Wings? Link, plz.
